"The Falkland Islands... are an archipelago in the South Atlantic Ocean, located approximately 250 nautical miles (460 km; 290 mi) from the coast of mainland South America. The archipelago, consisting of East Falkland, West Falkland and 776 lesser islands, is a self-governing Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom. The capital, Stanley, is on East Falkland" (courtesy Wikipedia).
Identifying the two main islands is key to this study:
Let's focus on the eastern island first:
Clearly we have an animal with a dog-like head and horn (a symbol of power), but with a very thin neck, and a mangled hind leg. The neck is so thin it couldn't really support a head that big. This is the big head or ego of The Enemy. A good example of this is found in Ezekiel 28, referring to Satan:
17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
The western island is just the opposite, and it's upside down (or head down) compared to the eastern island. Here it is turned 180 degrees:
This animal also appears to be in bad shape. Below the neck it's difficult to make out identifiable body parts. Essentially, its body is broken. However, in its mouth is the triangular-shaped Weddell Island:
We could also say the island is pyramid-shaped, and that the capstone, as it were, is in the animal's mouth (1st Peter 2:6-8). In this animal I see the opposite of the enemy. Here we have The Slain.
To help explain this, I noticed that a certain constellation in the southern hemisphere had 2 conflicting names. It was Lupus the Wolf (or Fera Lupus the Wild Wolf), also known as Victima, The Victim. Here are a couple similar illustrations depicting it being slain by Centaurus:
I think the Falkland Islands help solve this apparent problem. One half is Lupus, the other Victima. The triangle or pyramid in its mouth is analagous to the spear of Centaurus. And it's very interesting that the relatively modern (16th century) constellation of the Southern Triangle is close by (for this study I found very helpful the book "The Witness of the Stars" by E.W. Bullinger).
I believe the shape of the Falkland Islands helps illustrate the following Scriptures from John 10:
15 As the Father knoweth Me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down My life for the sheep...18 No man taketh it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of My Father.
Jesus was no victim, but rather laid down His life for us, hence the western Island upside down, and pierced.
And both islands help illustrate Hebrews 2:
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
